FLOOD WATCH: Keep Calm and Stay Informed

Heavy rainfall in the region has led to high water levels in and around Elkford.

The District of Elkford is actively monitoring local conditions. Water levels are expected to remain high and localized flooding remains possible. Please use extreme caution around all waterways, stay well back from streambanks and riverbanks and keep children and pets away from fast-moving water.

If you live near a river, creek or low-lying area, monitor conditions closely and be ready to act if conditions change. Anyone recreating on Crown land near moving water should monitor water levels and consider moving back from the water’s edge.

We encourage all residents to keep an eye on weather conditions and register for Voyent Alert! through the Regional District of East Kootenay’s Regional Evacuation Notification System to receive notifications if an evacuation alert or order is issued.

We will continue to monitor conditions and will share updates if anything changes.

Stay safe, stay informed and look out for one another, Elkford!
