Final Rounds for Street Sweeping Begin: May 19

In mountain towns, residents know it is not the groundhog, but the street sweeper that heralds the arrival of spring. This is the true Canadian symbol of hope, renewal and retiring your trusty snow blower for the season.

Now that the grass is turning green and winter’s finally over (we think 🤞), that big, beautiful beast has been making its rounds around town. Soon our Public Works crew will be gearing up for the final sweep, and they need a little help from you to keep things moving smoothly!

Mark your calendars:

  • All yard debris must be out on the road by the evening of Monday, May 18
  • Final rounds for sweeping begin Tuesday, May 19

Here’s how you can help our crews get it done and dusted:

  • No branches (or mountains of leaves) on the road.
  • Please keep debris within one vehicle width of the curb.
  • Move your vehicles off the street, please! Our sweepers like wide open spaces (unless you want your car in a very slow obstacle course).
  • Take the bulk of your yard waste (minus the plastic bags) to the compost bins around town. On the ground = bad. In the bin = beautiful. Branches in the bin = terrible.

Thanks for helping us sweep winter out of the picture!
