Elkford Recreation Centre: 2025 to 2026 Skating Season
Lace up your skates and hit the ice! Skating is back, and we're excited to welcome you back to the Elkford Rec Centre. Skating schedules are available at www.elkford.ca/skating, and these skating sessions are free of charge!
Free skating is scheduled around previously scheduled, paid bookings. To ensure the safety of all ice users, some rules and conditions apply. All skating schedules are subject to change at the discretion of the District of Elkford.

PUBLIC SKATING
Enjoy relaxed, all-ages skating time at the arena each weekend. Public skating is a great way to stay active, connect with friends and enjoy the ice in a welcoming, community-focused setting.
Drop in on Saturdays or Sundays and make skating part of your weekly routine through the winter season.

PARENT AND TOT SKATING
Parent and Tot skating offers a quieter, daytime ice time designed for young children and their caregivers. This program supports early skating skills in a calm, supportive environment where families can enjoy time on the ice together.
Sessions run weekly with a scheduled holiday closure in February.

SHINNY HOCKEY
Shinny hockey provides informal, recreational ice time for players looking to enjoy the game without the structure of league play. Sessions are offered throughout the week to accommodate a variety of schedules.
Please note scheduled date exceptions during the season.

Dates: Ongoing to March 8, 2026 (no shinny hockey on January 16, February 13 and February 16, 2026)
Times:
• Sundays, 8 - 10 p.m.
• Thursdays, 9 - 11 a.m.
• Fridays, noon - 2 p.m.
Where: Elkford Rec Center
Ages: 13+ without adult supervision and 12 and under MUST be accompanied by an adult that is 18+. ABSOLUTELY NO EXCEPTIONS.
Cost: $5.00/person
Materials or supplies: Helmets/equipment strongly recommended. Bring your own hockey puck.

Private Ice Rentals
Looking to play a game of shinny? Want to sharpen your hockey skills? Interested in private ice rentals? Elkford’s ice is meticulously maintained and affordable.
Did you know that the Elkford arena is available to rent on statutory holidays (except for Christmas Day)? It's true! Call 250.865.4010 to book your private ice time.

Arena
Elkford has a beautiful arena for ice hockey, shinny hockey, figure skating and public skating. Additionally, the arena is rentable for hockey tournaments, pick-up hockey games and competitions. In the summer, the arena dry floor is ideal for concerts, dances, sports groups (i.e., lacrosse) and other indoor events.
The arena provides an ice area of 85 feet by 180 feet, and the bleachers can accommodate up to 500 people.

Curling Rink
Three sheets of great curling ice are suitable for pick-up games, fun events or for curling bonspiels. The curling lounge can accommodate approximately 90 people.
Interested in booking? From October 15 to March 15, bookings for non-members are managed by Elkford Curling Centre. For more information about hours, rates, facility and equipment rentals, please access Elkford Curling Centre Facility Rental Agreement or contact elkfordcurlingcentre@gmail.com.
