All meetings are held in accordance with the Community Charter and the District’s Council Procedure Bylaw.

Regular Council Meetings
Regular council meetings take place on the second and fourth Monday of each month (except when that Monday is a statutory holiday, in which case the meeting them moves to the Tuesday immediately following and except during the month of December, when a regular meeting is scheduled only for the second Monday of the month)
Meetings take place at 6 p.m. and are held in Council Chambers at the District Office at 744 Fording Drive in Elkford
Regular meetings are open to the public unless all or part of the meeting is closed (in-camera) by resolution of council under the provisions of the Community Charter

Special Council Meetings
When necessary, council will call a special meeting to address a time-sensitive topic or decision that cannot be postponed for a regular meeting
In such cases, 24-hour notice of the special meeting is posted on the public notice board at the main entrance of the District Office at 744 Fording Drive in Elkford
Special meetings are open to the public, unless all or part of the meeting is closed (in-camera) by resolution of council under the provisions of the Community Charter

In-Camera (Closed) Meetings
Council is authorized to hold in-camera meetings for specific reasons as outlined in Section 90 of the Community Charter
The purpose of closed meetings is to discuss matters related to personnel, litigation, land, labour relations, law enforcement and any type of information that is prohibited from disclosure under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act
Prior to an in-camera meeting, council must—by resolution—indicate that it intends to proceed with business in a closed meeting and the legislative reason it wishes to proceed in-camera
The public is not permitted to attend a closed meeting
