Public Works Week Meet & Greet + BBQ

By Wanda

National Public Works Week is May 19 to 25, and this year’s theme focuses on how public works professionals contribute to and enhance the quality of life in the communities that they serve.👷

At the District of Elkford, we are incredibly proud of our Public Works team. It isn’t easy to look after the operational needs of a high-altitude mountain town, but our Public Works department suits up and gets outside—rain or shine, day and (sometimes) night—to perform Elkford’s snow removal, garbage collection, sanding and grading, roadwork, dust control and maintain our water, sewers and roads. Whether they’re in the office, the yard or out-and-about around town, the jobs that they do are often tough and dirty, but essential to the day-to-day functionality of our community.

Help us show them a little love! ❤️ This National Public Works Week, you’re invited to join the District of Elkford’s Public Works, Community & Facility Services and Fire & Emergency Services departments for our first Meet & Greet + Community BBQ! On Friday, May 24, from noon to 3 p.m., bring the whole family down to the Elkford Recreation Centre parking lot (816B Michel Road) to say hello and check out fun activities for kids, demo heavy equipment, ask questions, tell us your best poop jokes and enjoy some grub off the grill! This event is free, family-friendly and everyone is welcome. We can’t wait to see you all there!
