Mountian Bike Program - Sweet Shredders

By Paula

This program is designed for young riders eager to develop their mountain biking skills in a fun and supportive environment. Participants will start by learning fundamentals including neutral and ready positions, braking, pedal positioning, steering, speed, gearing and cadence, timing and coordination, and pressure control. From there, riders will progress through skills such as ratcheting, riding straight lines, small circles, switchbacks, rock dodge, climbing and descending techniques, cornering, roll downs, and front and rear wheel lifts. Instruction is tailored to each group’s level and pace, with all sessions continuing rain or shine unless severe weather or low temperatures occur.

Led by Karey Lee Hovind, founder and head coach of Sweet Riders Canada/Japan, riders benefit from her 20 years of international racing experience, including three Japanese DH Series Champion titles. Karey is a BICP Level 2 certified coach with a passion for building confidence, skills, and community among youth riders.
