CORE Program DAY 1 of 7

Build the knowledge and confidence you need to hunt safely and responsibly in British Columbia. The CORE course covers includes general knowledge of conservation, ethic, outdoor survival and bird identification and basic firearms handling. Successful completion of this course allows the student to apply for and get their Fish and Wildlife Identification (FWID) number which will allow them to buy a BC hunting licence.

This comprehensive weekend course includes the required manual and prepares participants for the provincial exam. Please review the age notes carefully prior to registration.

A $30.00 exam fee payable by the participant to BC Wildlife after successfully completing exam to obtain their FWID#.

• $166 per individual under 15 years of age (GST exempt)

• $174.30 per individual 15 years of age and older ($166 plus $8.30 GST)

Registration deadline: September 1, 2026

Ages: 10 years of age and older. If a participant is 10 or 11 years of age, it is recommended that a parent or guardian attend the full course, including the exam. The exam is written for those 12 years of age and older and a parent or guardian may need to assist with explaining questions or wording.

Materials or supplies: Manual provided. Please bring paper and pen, lunch, snacks and a water bottle. Cell phones are not permitted during the exam and must be removed from the table and stored away at that time.
