A friendly reminder that before heading into the backcountry, you should always take time to plan ahead and prepare for hazards, emergencies and rapidly changing conditions. Regardless of the season or your skill level, remember that you may encounter large wildlife, extreme weather and other natural hazards in the wilderness at any time.
Always check current burning regulations before lighting a fire. Pack out all garbage and leave natural areas as you found them. Carry bear spray, remain alert and give wildlife plenty of space. Always tell someone where you are going and when you expect to return. We also recommend carrying a radio, map, water, food and emergency supplies.
