2022 Elkford Santa Route Cancelled due to Extreme Cold Warnings

UPDATE 12/19/22: We regret to announce that due to extreme cold warnings issued for this week, the Elkford Fire Department’s 2022 Santa Route will be cancelled for safety reasons.

Santa was scheduled to fly into Elkford and tour the town on the fire engine on Wednesday, December 21 from 6 to 8 p.m., but with evening temperatures forecasted to drop into the -30s, he has decided to take a rain cheque for next holiday season. Our fire department loves upholding this celebrated annual tradition and spreading Christmas cheer, but the safety of your families and Santa’s helpers (our firefighters) comes first.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and hope you’ll join us next year!

In the spirit of the holiday season, the Elkford Fire Department is still accepting cash donations + grocery vouchers for the Elkford Food Bank. From Monday, December 19 to Friday, December 23, donations can be dropped off at the Elkford Fire Hall (2300 Balmer Drive) or the District of Elkford Office (744 Fording Drive) during regular business hours. Note that the Elkford Food Bank is not currently accepting food donations, so non-perishable goods will be donated to the next closest Elk Valley food bank.

Stay warm and stay safe, Elkford!

Watch for Santa Claus and the Elkford Fire Department in Your Neighbourhood on December 21!

We have received special news from Santa’s workshop that he will start his trek around Elkford in the fire truck on Wednesday, December 21 from 6 to 8 p.m. This gives Santa plenty of time to make his way around Elkford then get home to his workshop to prepare for his biggest night of the year!

Santa and his helpers in the Elkford Fire Department will also be accepting cash donations + grocery vouchers for the Elkford Food Bank (note that the Elkford Food Bank is not currently accepting food donations, so non-perishable goods will be donated to the next closest Elk Valley food bank).

Printed copies of the map will be available soon at all District of Elkford facilities and the Kootenay Market!
