Public Notice: Proof of COVID Vaccination Requirements

By brzadm

The Province of BC has implemented further restrictions to help slow the transmission of the COVID-19 Omicron variant.

To comply with the newest provincial health order, you’ll notice some changes over the coming days to registration and participation in District of Elkford recreational programming and activities:

  • Public skating now requires proof of double vaccination (POV) for participants 12 years+ (those aged 19 years+ must also show government-issued photo ID).
  • Parent & Tot Skating and Family Skating are cancelled up until January 31, 2022 and effective immediately.
  • All public swimmers aged 12 years+ are required to show proof of double vaccination status (those aged 19 years+ must also show government-issued photo ID). This includes public swim, lane swim, lessons, Aquafit and classes.
  • All upcoming recreational programming offered by the District of Elkford (i.e., gymnastics, karate, vision board class, Wednesday Night Knitting, Babysitting and StaySafe! courses, etc..) will require proof of double vaccination status for those over the age of 12 years+ (those aged 19 years+ must also show government-issued photo ID).

This restriction period is in effect until at least January 31, 2022 and until further notice. We will keep everyone up to speed as we receive more information and further provincial health orders. Despite the challenges this creates—for both our staff and the public—we are grateful that our arena, pool, Community Conference Centre and recreational programming can continue operating at this time. We ask for everyone’s continued understanding, patience and kindness toward our staff as we implement these regulations as required by the province. Like you, we are simply doing our best to navigate the ever-changing rules, guidelines and orders related to COVID-19.
