DISTRICT OF ELKFORD NOTICE OF TEMPORARY USE PERMIT AMENDMENT APPLICATION:

For Council Consideration on Monday, September 11, 2023, at 6 p.m.

 

Pursuant to Section 494 of the Local Government Act, public notice is hereby given that council for the District of Elkford will consider an amendment to Temporary Use Permit No. 18-02 at the meeting to be held in person and virtually on Monday, September 11, 2023, at 6 p.m. at Council Chambers, 744 Fording Drive, Elkford, B.C.

TEMPORARY USE PERMIT NO. 18-02 AMENDMENT

Applicant:

Teck Coal Limited

Legal Description:

Lot A, District Lot 7023, Kootenay District Plan EPP77820 and District Lot 9399, Kootenay District (except part included in Plan 9810)

Purpose:

The property owner has applied to revise the terms of clause 3.a.1 of the permit as follows:

Current:

Workforce accommodations not exceeding 484 sleeping units, to accommodate only employees of Teck Coal Limited and contractors working directly for Teck Coal Limited;

 

Proposed:

Workforce accommodations not exceeding 484 sleeping units, to accommodate employees of Teck Coal Limited, contractors working directly for Teck Coal Limited, and contractors working within the District of Elkford; Priority will be given to Teck Coal Limited employees and contractors working directly for Teck Coal Limited with a maximum allocation of 30 sleeping units reserved for other contractors working within the District of Elkford when the accommodations are otherwise at capacity.

This change will broaden the permitted users of the facility to include any contractor working on a project in Elkford.

All persons who believe they are affected by the Temporary Use Permit are encouraged to submit their concerns in writing to the District Office at 744 Fording Drive or by email to info@elkford.ca. All submissions should include your name and address. Please be advised that any written submissions will become part of the public record. The permit is available for viewing at the District Office. Further information may be obtained by contacting the District of Elkford at 250.865.4000, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday (except statutory holidays).
