Call for Volunteers: Youth Action Network Commission and Urban Wildlife Committee

Want to make a difference in your community and sit on the District of Elkford’s Committees and Commissions? Here’s your chance!

Volunteer for the Youth Action Network Commission (YANC)

The District of Elkford is seeking three volunteers to sit on the Youth Action Network Commission (YANC). This group oversees the Youth Action Network Coordinator and the SYS.tem Youth Action Network in Elkford, focused on increasing opportunities for meaningful youth engagement and supporting youth driven projects and ideas.

This entire initiative is grant funded by the Columbia Basin Trust, and it is the perfect opportunity to help create and enhance existing opportunities for youth in our community. You must be a resident of Elkford, come with an open mind and a willingness to provide input. Young adults are also welcome to sit on this commission! We welcome and encourage anyone over the age of 12 to apply.

Volunteer for the Urban Wildlife Committee (UWC)

The District of Elkford is seeking four volunteers to sit on the recently established Urban Wildlife Committee (UWC). These four members, alongside one member of council, will advise on issues related to urban wildlife within the boundaries of the District of Elkford, including conservation, minimization of human-wildlife conflicts, tracking statistics and public education methods.

This new committee replaces the former Urban Wildlife Management Advisory Committee. Meetings take place every four months (in March, July and November) and focus on addressing urban wildlife issues in our community.
