National Day of Mourning 2023

By brzadm

Friday, April 28 is the National Day of Mourning: a day dedicated to remembering those who have lost their lives at work, suffered injury/illness on the jobsite or experienced a work-related tragedy.

On this day, the District of Elkford remembers and honours those lost or injured in the workplace, and we pay respect to the families and friends who have been affected by these tragedies. We thank our employees for their contributions to keeping our workplace safe and healthy, and we strive to continually improve health and safety efforts in our organization to prevent injuries, illnesses and deaths.

As a symbol of tribute and respect to all affected, the District of Elkford’s flags will fly at half-mast on April 28. We encourage you, your families and colleagues to join us in observing a moment of silence at 11 a.m. on April 28.
