Official Community Plan
Welcome to the District of Elkford Official Community Plan (OCP) and Climate Change Adaptation Strategy
An Official Community Plan (OCP) is a provincially mandated, legal document that guides decisions on local development.
An OCP sets policy directions on:
- economic development
- transportation
- the environment
- residential, commercial, and industrial development
OCPs are updated regularly to refelct changing conditions such as population growth.
The Regional Board, development industry, and the public all use OCPs to guide development, decision-making and provide consistancy over time.
The District of Elkford has launched the process to create an Official Community Plan (OCP) and a Climate Change Adaptation Strategy. The project will result in an Official Community Plan and Climate Change Strategy that will provide direction for the coming 15 to 20 years. It will ensure the District becomes an even better place to live as changes take place over time. The planning process launched in the summer of 2008 and will continue through to the fall of 2009.
